Valkyrie Securities, though new to the field, has made a name for itself for it’s common sense approach to private security.
The founding members of Valkyrie Securities began as pilots in the 176th “Valkyrie” Squadron in the UEE Navy. After serving their tour of duty and earning their citizenship, many pilots from the 176th set forth to put their skills to good use protecting clientele across the verse.
We are different from a strictly military outfit in a number of ways, but always with reason. In general, we are more lax than a typical military assignment. We don’t have contracts binding you to service like the military, so leadership has to be just as accountable for showing respect as anyone else. And besides the practical concerns for employee retention, we have no interest in ruling with an iron fist. We want every employee to be happy and appreciated for the work they do.
Though we are not as rigid as the military, we do want to remain organized, especially in the field. We have ranks that can be earned through dedicated service, but it is important to note that these are separate from command roles. Command roles (ie. “chain of command”) is assigned at the beginning of each operation and is completely independent from a person’s rank in the company. It’s not uncommon for an employee of higher rank to be serving under another Valkyrie of lower rank for an operation. We want everyone to try their hand at command in some capacity. This is done for a couple of reasons. We get to see who has command aptitude and even if you don’t we want everyone to be exposed to being in a command role. This way, in cases where command officers are incapacitated in the field, or unavailable for an operation, we always have people capable of stepping in and keeping the team together. Lastly, we believe when everyone has felt what it’s like to be in command, they not only have a better idea of how we operate as a whole, they also tend to be a bit more forgiving if a commander makes a mistake.
Something to note about ranks is that all ranks above Valkyrie are considered command ranks. What this means is that they are primarily for people interested in and show aptitude for, command in the field and/or administrative skills for handling the business side of Valkyrie Securities. We have many employees that reach Valkyrie rank and continue honing their skills becoming our top aces on the front lines regularly logging more kills than their peers with command ranks. The point is that we want everyone operating where they are happiest and most effective, whether that’s in the boardroom, organizing an operation over comms, or with a pirate in your cross-hairs.
If you want your goods to make it safely to their destination, let Valkyrie be your wings.
If you want to mine in peace, let Valkyrie be your shield.
If you want vengeance on your enemies, let Valkyrie be your retribution.*

1. Members are expected to operate with respect.
2. Members are expected to operate with intelligence.
3. Members are expected to operate in legality.
4. Operational authority rests with the operator in command in the field: We want intelligent crew, pilots, and marines. An operator with pilots or marines under his/her command is expected to use their best judgment in the field to protect them, even against orders at times if the superior officer is not present in the field. Disobeying an order in this situation will not bring a reprimand. It may even be rewarded.
5. Squad Leaders, Battle Group Leaders, and Operation Commanders will be named for each operation. These roles may be assigned independent of rank. If a higher ranking officer is under a lower ranking one during an operation, they should follow orders appropriately for the duration of the operation.
6. Follow directives, but think independently: we want to work as a team, not have worker bees under a hive mind.
Command roles are assigned at the beginning of an operation.
Squad leader : A squad leader is an operator entrusted with the command of either a group of ships or group of marines (Typically 2-6).
Battle Group Leader : A Battle Group leader is an operator entrusted with the command of a battle group composed of multiple squads.
Operation Commander : The Operation Commander is entrusted with overall tactical command of an operation.
Initiate – The entry level operator is referred to as an Initiate. This is an operator who is in their early probationary period of employment.
Rookie – This is an operator who has passed their probationary period. They have been accepted as a long term member of the team, but have not yet attained full Valkyrie status.
Valkyrie – The Valkyrie is the core of Valkyrie Securities. They are long term employees with full benefits. Following long standing naval tradition, an operator earns a callsign once they become a fully fledged Valkyrie.
Lieutenant – A Lieutenant is a veteran Valkyrie who has shown command potential. Lieutenants are often entrusted with command of small groups.
Captain – A Captain is an officer with a proven track record in leadership, tactics, and sound decision making in the field. A captain is often entrusted with whole battle groups, commanding several lieutenants. (Note: Though the commander of a multi-crew ship is referred to as the ship’s Captain, this does not confer authority outside the bounds of the ship.)
Commander – A Commander has shown extraordinary talent for leadership and large scale tactics. The commander is often entrusted with an entire fleet composed of multiple battle groups.
