This Letter is one of many examples of Texas grit, determination, honor, and self sacrifice throughout it’s storied History. The Victory or Death letter and the brave fight these 183 Texans faced against overwhelming odds will forever define what it means to be a Texan. They held on for 13 days giving all Hell to the Mexican Army that poured in by the thousands. The sacrifice they made with their lives sparked a fire in every Texan to fight no matter the cost. The Alamo is a story every Human knows. Texans know it fondly. It fueled Texans in their final showdown with the Mexican Army led by Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto. They shouted, “Remember the Alamo!” Once again, the Texans were severely outnumbered. This time, they would defeat the Mexicans. It only took 11 minutes. It is considered one of the most one sided victories in History by an outnumbered combatant.
Texan Spirit goes further than Military prowess. It exist in the way Texans choose to live. We all have a strong independent streak and a frontier mindset. Those folks first settling in God’s Country had to deal with the harshest of climates. Terrain, Heat, cold, rain, hail, snakes, coyotes, bears, spiders, stickers, thorns, and hostile peoples were all threatening them. They were able to adapt and overcome those obstacles. They were hardy people. Independent, but willing to lend a helping hand. Never letting others perish when they could step in. No matter how dire the world was around them, Texans always greeting people with a smile and say, “Howdy.”
We have a little bit of everything for everyone!
