“All of God’s children they all have to die
Pauper to King sworn enemies to kin
From men without sin to those with the beast within
The grave is absolute; the grave is all.”

History

“They are on a crusade, that now sweeps through the worlds of man.
Leaving behind a trail of dead planets and towering icons.
Monuments to their unholy crusade.
All those poets on all those worlds who spoke of war as such an unsightly thing? They never stood here.”

Cosmic State is a militant, highly efficient Theocracy, which believes that life is an antagonist to the natural order. Our goal is to purge and cleanse the universe from this taint and grant us access to the Afterlife, our fabled paradise.
We are a hardcore pvp group, that delights in roleplay, yet, it is not mandatory nor enforced on players.

If you deem yourself worthy and strong enough, receive our embrace and join us in our crusade to dominate the galaxy!

“Never fails to inspire, does it? Each time a world falls?”

Death

The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.

The universe is corrupted. It is littered with the bodies of the living. A disease that nests like a parasite in the womb of the galaxy.
Life, itself, is an antagonist to the natural order of death. Death is absolute. Death is judge and executioner in one person, a just and incorruptible arbiter.

We, the Disciples of the Cosmic State, believe that the universe must be cleansed and purged.
We have been enlightened to serve a higher, noble cause. We are the ushers of the end, Harbingers of a better world.

We lost all memories of where we came from after our ascension to the faith. The same will happen to each new and freshly embraced. The progress of joining our cause will erase all memories of a former life, as the future and the afterlife is all we focus on.

We embrace only the strongest and most efficient warriors in the galaxy. Those who fall before us and have shown great combat prowess are deemed worthy and get to choose: convert or die! Those who convert, have to undergo several, sometimes painful rituals, which cleanses their mind, body, and soul, ascending them into a new, purged state.
Those who withstand or oppose us will be eradicated.

Death lingers in the Cosmic State, and no sane man would enter this area without an armada or a good priest.
It is a domain only the mightiest and strongest can endure for a longer period of time. It even seems that the flora and fauna reflect on the beliefs of the state, withering in its sphere of influence. The Cosmic State is therefore in dire need to acquire goods in more, sometimes illegal, ways: smuggling, salvaging, stealing.
Rumors are that death has taken an even higher toll on his believers, in the form of taking away their ability to reproduce. If this is true, it makes sense why the Cosmic State expands by conversion only

Always on our holy crusade to cleanse the universe, only warriors are embraced by our state. Our explorers, even our traders, are well-versed fighters, with the strongest belief in our faith and our cause.

The universe does not know it yet, but there will be a time when our name strikes fear into the heart of our enemies.
The State rises from its ashes, and with it, the frosty winds of death will purge through the universe.
Death will have a name and a home once again: Cosmic State

“So, it is this universe that must be cleansed of life, so that Afterlife can populate and prosper.”

Manifesto

“The only reason a warrior is alive is to fight, and the only reason a warrior fights is to win”*

Death and blood underpin human existence. It is a universal truism that only through continued blood-sacrifice in the face of a hostile universe will we ascend into the Afterlife and fill it with new life.

To save mankind, a constant war has to be waged: taking the souls and lives of the unworthy to clear the taint and to grant the worthy access to the Afterlife by converting them to the one true faith. Only a true believer ascends to the Afterlife when his time has come.

Historians always tried to describe the true meaning behind the faith of the Cosmic State. Most never understood its pure form, often using synonyms in the form of old earth religions:
Kali, Osiris, or Morrigan are often mentioned and the accompanying death cults of the archaic earth. Others see the rite of passage and the ever ongoing crusade of the Cosmic State as a baptism of fire each member has to undergo, somewhat similar to the fabled “death in combat” mentality the so-called Vikings had. And then some claim that the somewhat strict sense of honor and loyalty this faith demands from his members resembles the relationship of samurai and daimyo.

All of this is true, at least to somewhat of an extent.
The belief in death is so strange and alien to us, that any nonmember fails to grasp its concept to its full extent.
What can surely be said is, that the Cosmic State consists of battle-hardened warriors and veterans, eager to die when their time comes, zealous in their pursuit of working for a greater good (be it purging the galaxy of life or smuggling expensive wares into the State to ensure its future).
A famous saying among the populace is: “Demons to one, Angels to others.”
Although, it should be noted that the part about angels is mostly used by newly embraced.

Our members all hail from some military background or warrior caste.
Only the strong, the brave, the fittest are allowed to be ascended into our ranks.
We are martial artists, delighting to overcome our enemies most efficiently and quickly as possible. Like death, we are a force to be reckoned with. In the end, everything succumbs to the claws of death and us.

We are the Harbingers of death, his ushers. As such, we can’t allow being mindless drones, brutes.
Our warriors are highly regarded in our society, and for a fact, each member has served as a warrior once or still does. Organized, proficient, and highly efficient, we aim to be like death itself: absolute!

Our Warriors mostly specialize in specific fields of martial arts:

Templars, doing the brute force work, being the hammer and the anvil, that smashes our foes.
Inquisitors, making sure our state stays healthy of any corruption and enforces our laws and tenets.
Blackguards, protecting our homelands and ensuring the security of our state.
Exorcists doing recon work, infiltration of enemy bases and ships, and assassinating high-value targets.

We strive through the galaxy on a constant, ongoing crusade to purge the universe of its disease. Either converting or killing those standing in our way.

“I live; I die, I live again.”

Charter

“In this universe… Life is antagonistic to the natural state. Here humans, in all their various races, are a spontaneous outbreak. An unguided mistake. Our purpose is to correct that mistake because there is another place. A place where life is welcome, cherished. A ravishing ever new place called Afterlife. But the road to that place crosses over the Threshold.”

We do have a strong spiritual side and follow the tenets delivered by the gods to us. To ascend to the Afterlife, we have to become larger than life, cleanse our soul and bodies of the worldly taint. “As you think, so shall you become.”
The cleansing is a complex process. Some believe that purging the galaxy of the taint is the only way. Others feel that carving your bloody name into the fabric will lead to a purging state of the self.

Respect:
Even death, in its absolute ways, shows respect for those who earned it. Be the reaper but treat your enemies as they would treat you. They might deserve a place in the Afterlife too.

Loyalty:
What is a leader without the men who are loyal to him? What is a man that is not loyal to his leader? He is merely an animal, striving for his own, egoistic goals. If we want to achieve our goal, we have to work as one tide of death.

Honor:
“Honor without power was a useless decoration and power without honor was the simple flexing of muscle.”
Honor separates us from the peasants, the mere animals, like real warriors, we separate us from this scum.

Courage:
We do not fear death nor defeat. Does death fear loss? We know our limitations and will retreat if facing impossible odds. The afterlife is those who are brave and skilled, not for the foolish and reckless.

“What you call death, is just a beginning.”
