At a blues bar at the edge of developed space, a real obscure joint with the same lousy company night after night and drinks watered down to save the patron a few credits on cost, an old codger sat in a dark corner of the bar, barely looking up at the young gun who pulled up a chair, sitting across from the weathered salt.
“There’s a reason why there’s no chairs at this table but mine, buck.”
The newcomer gave a determined glare back at the old timer, obviously choosing to ignore the threat.
“I need to know about a group that popped up on the map recently. I hear you might know something about them.”
Taking a draw from his titanium mug, the old dog tossed out his credit device on the table. “Info ain’t free around these parts.”
The newcomer typed in some numbers into his MobiGlas, then swiped it over the antique credit charger.
“1k UEC. That’ll keep you laid out drunk in this hole for a few weeks at least,” the newcomer said with a quiet chuckle.
Accepting the payment, perhaps a little too fast, the old man asked, “That’ll do. Now who you interested in known’ about?”
The newcomer replied with one word, “Praxus.”
For the first time, the old man met the young man’s eyes. Staring at him for a while, trying to gauge the kid’s motives, or trying to decide if 1k UECs were enough for forking up info on the untraditional group that had sprung up, almost overnight.
At length, the old man offered, “Boy, I don’t know why you’re interested, or what business you got with that group, but Praxus…if you’re planning on getting an angle on them to do ‘em wrong, you a dead man.”
The newcomer put up a hand in defense, waving off the misinterpretation, “It’s nothing like that. In fact, the exact opposite. I might be material they’re looking for.”
“Well, in that case, yeah, I hear they’re recruiting. It’s good you got your head on straight enough to do a little digging before walking up to ‘em though. Here’s what I know about ‘em.
“The large business corporations on the edge of the developed frontier of space, they don’t do so well. Can’t seem to cut it out here,” the old man paused to give a small chuckle. “Ya see, police and standard protection isn’t quite as ‘reliable’ out here in the boondocks. As a result, they don’t tend to set up shop here, leaving a large opportunity for whatever company that has the balls to set up a business—that’d be where the Praxus group comes into the picture.
“You see, out here on the edge of space, they knew the rules of the game had changed, and they seem to have embraced a new freestyle of business. Some of the other rival companies call ‘em stray dogs in suits. They’re wily, doing whatever it takes to get the job done and profit from every opportunity. They’re resourceful, and ain’t no rival group seems to want to test them—not just yet at least. They seem to want to see how bad the first group that tries gets messed up, but none of ‘em wants to go first since Praxus don’t seem to fear taking risks at all. Almost like they’re some kind of re-envisioning of the old samurai who were trained not to fear death.
“If it’s just all a show, or if they’re the real deal, no one knows but them. But they don’t slip up, and even though they just showed up recently, they’re already a real presence in the scene out here. If you’re looking to get in with the big-time, they’d be a good shot at it, but watch your back with them. And if you double cross them…well, don’t.”
The young man slowly started to lean back in his chair, seeing that the old man was quite finished telling his part.
“You paid me for the info, which I gave ya, not a drinking partner,” the old man grumbled.
The old man’s jive was clear, and the newcomer tipped his hat brim in the old scruff’s direction before getting up, walking back out into the grey ally, watching the traffic above the crowded skyscrapers as the neon afterglow of the ships streaked by, leaving trails of aether dust marking up the black, night skies.
WHO IS PRAXUS
Praxus is an international group of active gamers. Praxus itself is pretty young, but some of its founding members have been playing games together since 2001. While our current focus is on Star Citizen, our members play a variety of other games and anyone who is looking for a mature group of Star Citizen fanatics, where they can find lasting friendships, is welcome in Praxus. If you’re interested to see what we’re about, feel free to apply and give us a try.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to foster an environment that welcomes those looking to become involved with other active gaming enthusiasts. We desire to cultivate lasting friendships with a focus on fun and the development of our collective abilities. Our strength is defined by the camaraderie formed through our adventures.
OUR VISION
“Praxus will be the most revered gaming community whose arm reaches out to all major multiplayer games of the present. Forming a brotherhood that inspires greatness in its members.”
Our vision statement contains only two sentences. And it is these two sentences that bind us all together. They contain the guiding principles to our idealized future upon which all our actions and decisions are based. As a member of Praxus we believe in this vision and it inspires us to be a part of it, so let’s analyse this more closely.
“Praxus will be the most revered gaming community”
What does it mean to be revered? Whenever Praxus enters the scene of a game’s community, the weight of our name carries a deep respect. People know that Praxus is trustworthy. People look to us for best practices, people want to be us or be a part of us.
“whose arm reaches out to all major multiplayer games of the present.”
Our vision is timeless. Praxus is not defined by a single game. Praxus will live on decades from now. It is important to know that this does not imply a limitation towards yesterday’s games. We can represent Praxus in any game no matter its age, but our aspiration is to constantly think ahead, prepare for the future, so that we may remain relevant in today’s games.
“Forming a brotherhood that inspires greatness in its members.”
This is perhaps the most important sentence of all. Forming a brotherhood implies a culture that goes beyond teamwork. It is a brotherhood that can always be counted on and that you are proud to be a part of. It guides our members to remain faithful to Praxus, to each other and the values we represent. Furthermore, when we do something, we do it right. This is a belief that persists throughout our organization and its members, and we inspire each other to be the best we can be.

MORALS IN THE UNIVERSE
The Star Citizen persistent universe is looking to become the sandbox we’ve always dreamed of. Each can craft their own moral code that they stick to. The question remains, how does Praxus as an organization stand on on those morals?
We believe that the fringe of civilized space is no place for rigid doctrines and inflexible rules of engagement. You might have scant seconds to make a decision that saves your life, your wingman’s life, or your precious cargo. Sometimes that means shooting first and asking questions later. If that makes us morally grey then so be it, but we always look out for each other.
We help our brothers and we always strive to further Praxus’ interests in the Persistent Universe. Our pilots also adhere to a personal “code of conduct” which strictly forbids trolling and griefing.
RESOURCES & SECURITY
Praxus is defined on the RSI website as a “Resources & Security” organisation. But in reality the true occupation of our organization is to “make-UEE credits”. As such, our focus as an organization will be anything that is the most profitable at that time. This means we might be moving around our focus as a team now and then. What it doesn’t mean is that, as a Praxus Star Citizen, you are restricted to this focus. People are free to play the game however they choose.
HARDCORE VS CASUAL VS ROLEPLAY
Praxus has a hardcore element to its member base. If you want to be a part of that element there is definitely a place for you among us. We want our fellow guild members to take the game as seriously as we do.
That said, we also have a population of casual gamers and they are definitely not excluded as long as they meet our minimum activity requirements.
Our smallest population is probably people who are in it purely for role play, but you will find, even that aspect of Star Citizen can have its place in our organisation to some degree.
Regardless, we expect our members to commit to each other and the group.
MEMBER ACTIVITY
Star Citizen is quite a ways from release, so we’re giving our members some slack. But come release, we will have minimum activity requirements in place in order for you to remain a member of our guild. Contact us for more information.
STRUCTURE & HIERARCHY
Our “structure” accommodates a traditional solution for MMO raids and events but incorporates a way for members to “rise through the ranks” and handle the many challenges that await us in the persistent universe.
AFFILIATIONS
Praxus is an exclusive organization. We want our members to believe in the group and for that reason we expect Praxus to be your main organization. You are free to be affiliated to anyone else you like.
ORG TAXATION
We can only base ourselves on how the persistent universe will turn out but it’s looking right now that as an organization you will be able to obtain different assets ranging from ships to hangars to mining equipment and so forth.
In order for our organization to be competitive we will be contributing as a team to acquire certain assets.
Many other MMORPG’s allow a guild to tax their members in various ways. In Star Wars Galaxies this was an automated deduction off of your character’s game-bank account. In World of Warcraft this was a small amount of extra gold that you gained which went to the guild bank. Hopefully Star Citizen will allow such functionalities and if not we will rely on the goodwill of our team. It’s not our intention to prevent our members from financially succeeding in the game, in fact, every UEE credit will be reinvested into Praxus and its members.
