The Kranz Society (KRANZ) provides a range of astronautical services. Founded in 2777, Kranz remains in operation today and is one of the oldest professional associations for independent pilots.
The Kranz Society was originally formed in the late 28th century as an organization to support pilots testing customized non-commercially developed equipment in deep space flight. Over the following decades it would develop into a fully accredited space-flight training and services organization. What sets Kranz apart from similar organizations is that from the very beginning it has been collectively owned by its members.
Due to the historical complexities of Imperial politics, the Kranz Society does not engage in projects sponsored by the UEE nor does it endorse similar programmes. This has resulted in the Society maintaining closer relations with groups like the Banu and also Tevarin operated corporations than many other organizations providing similar training and logistics services.
Many independent pilots find nav and security updates from fellow members essential to their daily work and it’s not uncommon for members to meet up to exchange rumours, job offers, or even just to share a meal and a drink with a friendly face in the more remote reaches of the galaxy.
