“Avast, ye space pirate! Register EV!”

History

In a parallel universe, there was a mysterious wormhole that lead star travelers to a lonely star system of untold riches known simply as Se7en. Only a few of the most intrepid explorers ever found this portal to the modern El Dorado. Fewer of those ever made it through to Se7en. Of those who did, none returned.

For the wormhole did not take the travelers back to the reality they had come from, but spit them out in a new universe. With no way back home, these pilots have made their home in this new universe. Over time they have found each other and formed a pact for mutual protection and to keep the memories of their old home alive.

Foremost among these memories is that of a legendary pilot of their universe known only as Cap’n Hector. Her fury in battle was matched only by her burning hatred for pirates. Whether she destroyed them out of hand, or plundered their ill-gotten fortunes, she wreaked her wrath across the known galaxy and beyond.

She was also known to have a strange fondness for crackers.

Manifesto

The Heralds of Hector was born as an homage group to the Escape Velocity series of video games. Many of us had our first exposure to the idea of a sand-box space game in Escape Velocity while flying a small shuttle craft from one planet to the next, trying to scrape up enough money for a larger ship, more guns, and better shields. We gathered in HoH to join with others who had the same experience, and to keep the legacy of the great Cap’n Hector, alive in the modern video gaming landscape.

That being said: You don’t have to have played EV to join this group. Maybe your first experience was playing Terminal Velocity, or Homeworld, or Freelancer, or Wing Commander. If you remember an old game fondly and would like to be a part of a group that looks to the past as well as the future of gaming; well, we might be the group for you.

All professions (and those with no profession) are welcome in HoH. If you join HoH, your fellow members will be stealthy thieves and nervous scavengers. They’ll also be merchant princes, captains of industry, and intrepid explorers. And those are simply the ones who aren’t steely-eyed combat pilots, rough-hewn asteroid miners, or simple captains for hire. They may be citizens in good standing with the UEE, or they might have death warrants out for them. If it sounds like these could be your brothers and sisters in arms/trade/life, then we’re the ones for you!

Charter

All rules subject to change as the group evolves.

HoH is a simple organization with simple rules (for now).
It is also a family within SC. As such:

1) There’s a time and place for disagreements. Namely, before decisions are made and in private.
2) If HoH is attacked, you’re expected to stand shoulder to shoulder with the other members.
