History

Twelve winters of grief for Hrothgar,
king of the Danes,
sorrow heaped at his door by hell-forged hands,
his misery leaped the seas,
was told and sung in all men’s ears.

Beowulf & Hrothgar, destinies pained a second act grander than before………….

………..among the ruin of space, anxiety awaited grim faces worn from battle. Debris, scattered links of bonds honored, signaled a fate undimmed for weighted hearts. All hails unanswered, futile hopes embraced the deafening silence. Refuse and mingled hate painted the canvas known as home……….the women, the elderly, the younglings, frozen forms that haunt dreams still. Their hearts beat from afar, as one they cry.

Tales tell a riddle still. UEE callings attest not the destruction enjoyed, as no stone was left upon another. No, not one; even trinkets strewn as one seeds a field. An omen in jest it seemed.

Peace grieved our fallen as kin upon kin paid homage. None laid claim to our hatred; slowly, whispers found purchase within. Proofs shall one day find station and the souls of those against us shall melt from fear.

Manifesto

To wear the name “Black Heart” is an honor, not a right. Few are those invited to the “Rite of Naming”. Fewer still, those who walk among the ancients in name, honour and deed. For those immortal souls certain rights are given, certain rights are born.

We Are Our Deeds

HONOUR is the lifeblood of the Black Heart. It is the well from which we each draw, and from which others will know who we are. As it says in the Havamal:

“Cattle die, kinsmen die; the self must also die. I know one thing which never dies: the reputation of each dead man.”

Such Honour lives within the following:

TRUTH: Our words are our bond. What we speak, we will do – lest death interfere.

HONESTY: A price agreed is the price paid or received.

LOYALTY: Brothers before others. We stand as one against all, regardless of right or wrong.

As it says: “The wolf and the dog do not play together.”

COURAGE: Valhalla awaits not the coward and makes the wolf bigger than it is. The foolish man thinks he will live forever if he keeps away from fighting; but old age won’t grant him a truce, even if the spears do.

VENGEANCE: Wrongs suffered will be re-payed in kind, at all cost, at all times by all herein. Vengeance is not a choice, it is an obligation.

LAW: Our laws are ours, theirs are for them only. We do not accept any law outside of our dictates. We will do as we choose, where we choose, when we choose.

FEALTY: Black Hearts, Jarl, Brother, Self……….allegiance through and diligence to the order before self.

FREEDOM

Freedom to choose each soul’s destiny is a right all men are born with. With such freedoms, it is evident that others feel a need to ensnare such into bondage for no other purpose than that – slavery; whether literal, or guised as government. We do not succumb, in will nor in deed, to their machinations. Our destinies are ours and no others. As a Black Heart, we know and understand this precept, and to this we will hold all accountable.

Charter

We are based on the North American continent (USA), primarily in the Central Daylight Time zone. We have a website that you will need to also become a part of, and you will also be required to be on our Teamspeak 3. You are more than welcome to bring your friends in as long as they conform to our rules of Respect and having fun. We’re a group that likes to get together and just have fun, so come on in and be part of it.

We are welcoming to all play levels, whether Casual, Regular or Hardcore. We’d prefer at least Regular, but it’s not set in stone. We also welcome players that are looking to play any profession in-game. Granted, we are heavily weighted towards a Viking image and play style, but we understand how all things can work within the system we are running. We may have many people doing different professions, but our calling card is that each and everyone of us will respond to help and aid a brother in the organization – regardless of distance or disposition. A Black Heart is never wrong (outwardly to others at least), and if they have a problem with one of us, they have a problem with all of us.

CODE OF CONDUCT

Have Fun. This is a game. We all want to be successful at whatever we put our attention to, but remember this is just a game. Unlike any other game out there, but still a game.

18+ Years Or Older. We are not looking to be “family friendly”, as we tend to cut loose on Teamspeak and don’t want to deal with the “Watch your language” limitations.

Respect: Be respectful of all members on comms, in game and on our website. We’re all about fun, and don’t mind the occasional calling out of another should the circumstance call for it. No racism allowed, period.

Drama Free. We are not your therapist or your baby-sitter, we don’t care about selfies or if your better half snores at night. We are here to have a good time, be part of it.

No Griefing. Not only in game, but on our forums, Teamspeak, or anywhere else.

No Cheating. We do not allow or support cheating (including .xml hacks not authorized by CIG). If you have a question about anything that may be misconstrued as cheating, by all means ask. Better to be safe than sorry.

English: Be fluent in speaking/writing English. In working together as a group, communication is key. If no one can understand each other, it defeats the purpose of playing together.

RANK

As in all organizations, there will be ranks within. It is imperative that each member be accountable to any/all higher ranking members, and depending on the situation – they will take orders from them. We see this function in fleet tactics and larger scale operations. Each member that has earned a higher rank is likely to be filling also some sort of administrative function, be it Information, Finances, Quartermaster, Tactician, Theory-Crafting, Ambassadorship, etc. The ranks are available to all that wish to earn them; they will not just be given out for the sake of giving them out, we want active caring members in these positions.

ORGANIZATION ROLES:

Here is the entire larger picture of “Hrothgar’s Black Hearts”. Play the profession you want to play. You want to be involved in Exploration, then Explore. You want to Smuggle, then Smuggle. You want to be part of Security, Infiltration, Social, Trading, Freelancing….whatever it is – do it! We aren’t locking anyone into a very defined role as to any profession. We will need and want all walks of life and every profession within the game.

How does that work?:

How it works is this: We are all in this together. If someone runs into any resistance from any other faction/group, we react together as a group. We are modeling ourselves along the Viking warrior code.

“Black Heart” actually represents our bad side and how those against us will think we possess black hearts.
