GIGO is an independent research firm with members across all forefronts of different scientific fields, unaligned with the UEE government and unbound by their jurisdiction in lawless space. Join us for untethered advancement in technology and the profitable discovery of the unknown!

History

GIGO is among one of the oldest known syndicates to still remain in existence. The inception of the organization dates back to the Great Mars Tragedy of 2125 when Sean Nguyen, RSI’s chief science officer behind the atmo-processor, lost his life among the 4876 others that died during the first terraform project.

While official statements from government officials attributed the tragic event to a “chemical miscalculation in the planetary atmospheric processors”, there is some evidence that Sean and his crew had been supplied inferior components, unbeknownst to any of them that they were not safely made to specifications (presumably due to the mounting costs that various countries were incurring to help with the terraforming of Mars). Conspiracy theorist assert that the remaining scientific team behind the vetted atmo-processor on Earth were paid off to keep quiet about the true circumstance behind the tragedy.

Sean Nguyen had left behind his only son, himself a brilliant engineer with a clear disdain for the government much like his father. Forming what some consider to be the very first scientific syndicate to operate outside the law, “Genius In Genius Out” was officially established by Sean’s son as an independent research organization in 2157, the same year the Mars terraforming project was successfully completed.

From the beginning GIGO was intended as a cleverly legitimate front to generate profit, all discreetly used to fund the scientific pursuits of its members without the interference or budget restraints of any governing body. The syndicate has since continued to operate “legally” where applicable and when audited by authorities. However, members of the syndicate have shown upon multiple occasions to be more than willing to skillfully skirt any jurisdiction in pursuit of anomalies located in lawless space.

Right after Vernon Tar encountered the first alien ever met by Humans in 2438, GIGO had already been engaging in peaceful cooperative research with the Banu in the following four months before representatives from both races signed the first Peace and Trade Accord.

As of 2945, GIGO is presently engaged in almost all manner of freelance work to help privately fund their ambitious goal of locating and repairing a derelict RSI Bengal Carrier. The syndicate has not yet publically designated what the ship will be used for other than research purposes.

Manifesto

GIGO has always remained politically neutral since its creation, attracting varied & colorful professionals of dubious reputation, from pleasure bot engineers to ex-Advocacy info runners. All member & affiliates share a desire to discover the scientific unknown through exploration, research, and ingenuity.

Primary Goal: Discover new jump paths to scientific anomalies, upon either conducting our own independent research or otherwise selling its location for profit on the galactic black market. Research goes towards developing new technologies to benefit all syndicate members.

Secondary Goal: Discover entirely new systems in search of salvages, ruins, & artifacts or perhaps even rare new life forms on uncharted planets. We ignore the Fair Chance Act put forth by the UEE.
  • Utter disregard for Fair Chance Act, Section II (Designation of Developing Species)
    1. Not obliged to run non-invasive scans prior to first contact of a new planet
    2. Not obliged to submit reports and findings to the UEE Senate Subcommittee
    3. “Ecological sanctity” of any developing planet is not acknowledged by GIGO

Tertiary Goal: Discover & repair a derelict RSI Bengal Class Carrier and repurpose her as the exploratory flagship of GIGO for deep space frontier missions in search of new wonders!

Charter

GIGO Frame of Conduct & Policies:

  • Although the organization is a syndicate, both slavery and piracy are generally not condoned by its members. They fiercely deny any claims indicating otherwise.
  • Banned areas of research, or so-called “illegal tech”, are treated the same as any other field of science. GIGO supports advancements in developing new cybernetics, narcotics, and pleasure bots, as well as the trading of illicit data (info-running/smuggling/unsanctioned engineering)
  • There are no taxes or fees imposed on any members or affiliates, and no asset redistribution for the organization. All group expenditures are voluntary with individual accountability for operating costs.
  • Finders will always receive 100% of their discovery no matter what, and is solely up to them to choose whether or not to split the spoils or return any favors to the parties involved.
  • Allegiance and exclusivity agreements are not recognized, GIGO itself being a freely syndicated network comprised of other Org founders & affiliate members. At all cost would the syndicate avoid being beholden to any government entity or another organization.
  • There is technically no chain of command or rank superiority, and no one should ever be required to take orders from another member regardless of their title or name.
  • Direct violence against any neutral or otherwise peaceful parties involved with the syndicate is greatly frowned upon in most cases.
  • All fellow members are to treat each other with courtesy and respect, taking great pride in being a more “civil” syndicate than the rest.
