IN SERVITIUM MATER MEDICINA
In Service of the Mother of Medicine

History

In Greek mythology, Epione was the goddess of the soothing of pain; in fact, her name actually means soothing. She was the wife of Asclepius and mother of Panacea, the goddess of medicines, and Hygieia, the goddess of health. She was probably also considered the mother of the famous physicians Machaon and Podalirius, who are mentioned in the Iliad of Homer.

In 2934, following the Velikov Ridge mine collapse on Arial in which 73 unimprinted lives were lost, our founder swore to democratise Stanton’s flagging and classist healthcare system to bring high-quality medical services to all those in need. After successfully lobbying in UEE Congress with the Stanton I Human Rights Organisation (SIHRO) to make regeneration services mandatory for all industrial and high-risk offworld workers, EPIMED had found its new mission. Since then, our humble freelance ambulance service has expanded into further political advocacy (securing the right to free therapy for identity and existential issues in regenerated workers at the employer’s expense), non-profit humanitarian aid to conflict-ridden and demilitarised zones in the Pyro System, and delivering affordable full-spectrum care to every resident of the Hurston and wider Stanton Systems.
