History
The Crescent City Crusaders, trace our roots back to the vibrant heart of old Earth, a place called New Orleans. Emerging from a close-knit group of independent traders and explorers navigating the Mississippi River and the Gulf Coast, our ancestors formed the Crescent City Collective. Their adaptability and knack for navigating complex situations, both logistical and interpersonal, allowed them to thrive in an era of rapid change. This emphasis on self-reliance and collaborative problem-solving became the bedrock of our organization.
As humanity ventured into the stars, the Collective followed, carrying the spirit of New Orleans with them. We established a foothold in the Stanton system, drawn by the promise of opportunity surrounding Crusader Industries’ growing operations. The Collective’s expertise in resource management and logistics proved invaluable in the developing star system, and we quickly earned a reputation for reliability and efficiency, though we remained a small group. Our operations included everything from mining and salvage on Yela to transport and escort missions throughout the system.
A core tenet of the Collective was a commitment to lawful operation, even in the often-lawless reaches of space. While not averse to navigating grey areas, we drew a firm line against piracy and other predatory practices. This commitment to ethical conduct, combined with our diverse skillset and adaptable nature, earned us the respect of both clients and competitors, despite our small size.
Our connection to our New Orleans roots remains a source of pride and inspiration. Our informal motto, “Laissez les bons temps rouler, come what may, we’ll find a way.” encapsulates our blend of easygoing camaraderie and unwavering resolve. This unique cultural identity sets us apart in the diverse landscape of other organizations.
In 2944, the Collective formally incorporated as the Crescent City Crusaders, solidifying our presence in known space. This transition marked a new chapter in our history, but our core values – independence, collaboration, and ethical conduct – remains unchanged. Though we remain a small organization, we continue to operate with the same dedication to our principles, taking pride in our reputation for integrity and reliability.
From our humble beginnings on the waterways of Earth to our current operations among the stars, the Crescent City Crusaders carries the spirit of New Orleans with us, a testament to the enduring power of community and shared purpose.
Manifesto
The Crescent City Crusaders embrace the spirit of our New Orleans forebears, valuing independence, collaboration, and a “let the good times roll” philosophy, come what may, we’ll find a way. We are a small but respected organization dedicated to ethical conduct and lawful operations within the sometimes murky depths of space. We believe in individual freedom and mutual support, fostering a community where every member can pursue their own goals while contributing to our shared success. While we prioritize peaceful coexistence and lawful enterprise, we stand ready to defend ourselves and our values against those who threaten them. We strive to be reliable partners, skilled professionals, and honorable citizens of the ‘verse, always seeking new opportunities and adventures while upholding the legacy of our origins.
Charter
- Respect and Camaraderie: Treat all members and associates of the Crescent City Crusaders with respect and courtesy. Foster a positive and collaborative environment within the organization. We are a community, and our strength lies in our unity.
- Ethical Conduct: The Crescent City Crusaders prioritize ethical conduct within the ‘verse. While we understand that operating within the letter of the law isn’t always feasible or desirable, we condemn piracy, griefing, and any actions that intentionally harm or exploit others. We believe in fair play and respect for other inhabitants of the ‘verse, even when engaging in activities that might bend or skirt “lawful” regulations. We strive to minimize harm and prioritize the well-being of our members and the community at large.
- Independence and Collaboration: Members are encouraged to pursue their individual goals and interests, whether it be mining, exploring, transporting goods throughout the ‘verse or protecting others. However, collaboration and mutual support are essential to our shared success. Assist fellow Crusaders whenever possible and contribute to the overall strength of the organization.
- Confidentiality and Discretion: Protect sensitive information related to the Crescent City Crusaders and its operations as well as those of our clients. Exercise discretion in all dealings and avoid actions that could jeopardize the organization or its members.
- Representation: When interacting with others in the ‘verse, represent the Crescent City Crusaders with professionalism and integrity. Uphold our reputation for reliability and ethical conduct.
- Adherence to the Motto: Embrace the spirit of “Laissez les bon temps rouler, come what may, we’ll find a way.” Maintain a positive attitude, adapt to changing circumstances, and persevere through challenges.
- Amendments: This Charter may be amended with the consensus of the active membership of the Crescent City Crusaders.
