History

The Cosmic Nomads started as a small group of friends who shared a love for two things the open expanse of space and the sweet relief of the best weed the universe had to offer. Each member had their reasons for leaving the so-called “civilized” worlds of the UEE.
Some were ex-miners tired of the back-breaking grind in asteroid belts, others were pilots who’d had enough of endless cargo runs for mega-corporations, and a few were just natural-born drifters who never quite fit in.

It began in a smoky backroom on Grim Hex, the infamous outlaw station orbiting Yela in the Stanton system. There, amidst the haze and the beat-up jukebox, we discovered a common passion for the thrill of flying free and living life on our own terms—without rules, without bosses, and definitely without sobriety. With our first few credits pooled together, we acquired a beat-up cargo ship and set out into the black, taking whatever jobs we could find to keep our ships running, our stash stocked, and our freedom intact.

The Cosmic Nomads aren’t your typical outlaws. We operate on our own terms, with no strict leadership or hierarchy. Decisions are made together in hazy, smoke-filled gatherings where the only rule is that everyone gets a say. Each member has a unique specialty: some are ace pilots who can maneuver through asteroid fields while half-baked, others are engineers who can fix just about anything with scrap metal and creativity and sharpshooters who can hit any target that crosses their path and some of the best medics you can find.

The Nomads don’t bother with official alliances or contracts. We prefer friends to come and go naturally, based on shared interests and mutual respect—mainly for freedom, fun, and good weed. We have allies among smugglers, rogue traders, and fellow outlaws, and even a few sympathetic contacts within UEE space who appreciate our rogue charm.

We live by our own rules, chasing our own highs, and finding our own way in a universe that often takes itself too seriously. For the Nomads, every day is another chance to explore the stars, make new friends, and enjoy the best the galaxy has to offer.

Manifesto

Intentions:

  • To Live Free and Unbound: Our foremost intention is to live without restraint. We reject the chains of authority, corporate interests, and any force that seeks to control our destiny. We will roam the stars, set our own paths, and shape our futures by our own hands. Our freedom is non-negotiable.
  • To Explore and Enjoy the Verse: We intend to experience the universe in all its wonders—every distant planet, every hidden jump point, every backwater outpost, and every secret corner of the cosmos. We seek to find beauty and adventure wherever we go, and we intend to enjoy every moment of it with our friends and our stash.
  • To Thrive Outside the Law: We are outlaws by choice, not by circumstance. Our aim is to make our way through the galaxy by whatever means suit us best—smuggling, freelance mercenary work, bounty hunting, or any job that lets us live by our own rules. We intend to prosper without compromising who we are.
  • To Protect Our Own and Our Way of Life: We will defend our crew, our allies, and our home—The Drift—with everything we’ve got. We intend to keep our sanctuary free from those who would disrupt our peace, and to stand strong against any who threaten our freedom or our family.

Motives:

  • Freedom Above All: Our motive is simple: we value freedom over everything. We refuse to be pawns in the games of empires or tools for those who would use us for their own gain. Our loyalty is to each other, to our way of life, and to the endless horizon of the stars.
  • To Find Joy in the Journey: Life is short, but the universe is vast. We are driven by the desire to find happiness, laughter, and camaraderie in every corner of the verse. Our motivation is to live well, enjoy each other’s company, and make every day an adventure worth remembering.
  • To Stay One Step Ahead: We know the verse is full of dangers, from UEE patrols to rival crews, but we are motivated by the challenge of staying ahead of them all. Our goal is to remain elusive, to outwit, outmaneuver, and outlast anyone who tries to bring us down.
  • To Share What We’ve Found: Our way of life isn’t just for us—it’s for anyone who dreams of living free. We are motivated by the idea of inspiring others to break away from the mold, to find their own freedom, and to join us in our journey if they share our spirit.

In the Verse, we trust only in ourselves, our friends, and the freedom of the stars. We are The Cosmic Nomads, wanderers of the infinite, rebels against the ordinary, and seekers of the good vibes that flow between the jump points.

We fly where we want, when we want, and how we want, without the chains of law or the burdens of bureaucracy. Every day is a new adventure, every jump is a chance to explore the unknown, and every job is a path to living the life we choose.
  1. The Universe is Our Playground: The galaxy is full of mysteries, opportunities, and good times waiting to be discovered. We are the ones who dare to go off the beaten path, to chart our own courses through the black. We embrace the chaos, thrive on the unexpected, and celebrate the strange and the wonderful that the verse has to offer.
  1. Keep the Peace, Unless You Can’t: We prefer a chill approach to life. We smoke, we laugh, we barter, and we deal. Violence is a last resort, but when the time comes, we’ll hit harder than a quantum jump. We protect our own and defend those who share our spirit. Respect is given freely but must be returned, or we’ll teach a lesson the hard way.
  1. Friends are Family, Family is Sacred: We don’t just fly together; we thrive together. Our crew is more than just a team—it’s a family bound not by blood, but by choice. We look out for each other, stand by each other, and fight for each other. Betrayal is the only sin we don’t forgive.
  1. Smoke, Chill, Repeat: Life is short, and space is vast. We take the time to enjoy the journey, to light up and look at the stars, to find the beauty in the chaos of the universe. Our downtime is sacred; it’s when we recharge, reconnect, and remember why we do what we do. Every sunset seen from the cockpit, every laugh shared over a joint, every moment spent drifting in the black is a moment we cherish.
