History

How Did We Start?

The Beginning

Andromeda Orbital Enterprise didn’t start out as an interstellar trade company, nor did it start out with that name. Andromeda Orbital Enterprises, formerly Andros Incorporated, was founded as a intrastellar commercial shipping company in 2896, however, as with all restless companies, Andros Inc expanded. The expansion wasn’t one necessitated by this insatiable need to grow, rather, that need meant that the pressures on the company that seemed to be dooming it to failure pushed the company out in a different direction than anticipated – rather like a balloon deforming when squeezed.
In 2927 Andros Inc begun to explore interstellar trading and exploration, creating a subsidiary named Andromeda Orbital Enterprises to test these foreign waters, such was the pressure on Andros Inc, that they used a considerable amount of their funds to purchase a Freelancer for this purpose. The Andromeda Orbital Enterprise Freelancer, named Hercules had made quite a few trade runs, the trade revenue over interstellar space far surpassed that of intrastellar trade, so Andros Inc dropped all other branches, and merged itself fully into Andromeda Orbital Enterprises – AOE having the more well known branding by this point. To facilitate this shift, Andromeda Orbital Enterprises purchased a second Freelancer, Perseus.
At this early stage in Andromeda Orbital Enterprises’ exploration of interstellar trade, its directors were naive – having never encountered the problem of pirates in their heavily policed origin system. In the year 2929, on its way back to Earth, Perseus was raided by pirates, and all of the cargo was lost, the ship was recovered and refurbished, but it was clear that Andromeda Orbital Enterprises needed protection. Thus was formed the security division, starting with the purchase of a 325a fighter, appropriately named Achilles.
