Bio
h-CAT is actually a nickname given to Simon Tam by his fellow students during medical school. It refers to the abbreviation "CAT" for "computed axial tomography" or CAT-scan which was an imaging technology using x-rays in the early 21st century. Simon was always known as being somewhat oldschool, just like the technology itself. While studying one of the old images to learn more about the history of medical science, he caught the nickname and it stuck.
Later Simon also applied for a pilot license, because he always wanted to be a flying medic. But being rejected for military service because of "social background and security issues" made him go the way of a freelancer. Simon knew this was caused by a major encounter between governmental institutions and his sister, River. Lacking the resources he starts his career with the generic craft of an RSI Aurora LX, which was (at the time of purchase) the cheapest version of a flying vessel he could get his hands on.
