He had to drop out of the academy due to financial difficulties caused by a serious illness of his father and the mother becoming unemployed, as she needed to care for the father.
The family's lack of money forced him to get to know the shadows of the worlds as well.
When he traded with a Vanduul on the Grim Hex, he was seriously injured when a dispute arose between the Vanduul and a slam junkie.
After two weeks in a coma, he was released from the infirmary.
Then he disappeared from the scene and no one had heard of him, even his family knew nothing about his whereabouts. But they kept wondering who sent the courier they received money from.
That he got played with, he always was aware of. But the "masterminds" never ever had thought, he being able to gather that much information about them. Without them knowing, their time got ticking and it has advanced for a long time. They should have never bet heads or tails on his without thinking about them losing which of it.
