Kieren Akari is the grandson of Terrence Akari, the Terran Senator who brokered the treaty that defused tensions with the Xi’An in a daring act of defiance that brought peace and marked the beginning of the end of the Messer Era.
Akari's parents named their son in memory of two historic figures: One, a hero of his grandparents-- Assan Kieren, the Terran Senator who publicly excoriated the blind pro-military agenda of the UEE and its unconditional support of the military-industrial complex. Imperator Messer wielded the UEE’s brutally efficient propaganda machine to discredit and destroy Kieren, before abducting, toruting, and secretly murdering him. The second reason his parents chose this name was as a sign of respect for an individual who lived in the sixth century and was forced to leave a monastery in the center of Ireland by the other monks because of what they considered his excessive charity.
