Introducing the Composers:

Nick Fitzgerald:

"I'm Nick Fitzgerald, currently living in Los Angeles, and have been making music for 14 years. I have a B.S. in Music Technology, and got my start in the professional world as a sound designer for video games in 2007. Since, I've moved on to sound editing, music editing, and composing for multimedia. I've always had a passion for Sci-Fi and the creativity involved opens doors for composers to be as as imaginative as the material. Hopefully we can come up with something fulfilling to us all that achieves the vision that Star Citizen has.

Some of my work can be found here:

https://soundcloud.com/njfmusic "

Yuchen Tian (Known as Hius here on the forums)

"My name is Yuchen Tian. I currently live in Richmond, Virginia. I have been playing guitar since 14, with genres ranging from indie rock to metal. I make electronic dance music such as trance and eurodance. I also from time to time write other kinds of music as you can hear on my SoundCloud page. I don't have any formal musical education, but I have a great feeling for music, and that helps greatly on writing music.

I've always been a lover of space and space sims. Star Citizen is a long awaited dream. It is my pleasure to work on such projects with other talented people.

Most of my songs are located at https://soundcloud.com/mopbop I welcome any comments and criticism."

Fernando Pepe

"My name is Fernando Pepe from Sao Paulo, Brazil. I'm 22 and I started to composing last year but I play guitar/piano since 12 years old.
I work with game development (indie game) on soundtracks, sound design, etc.. I took responsibility for it and I'm improving my knowledge since I really like the matter.

Find more about my work here: https://soundcloud.com/ferpepe"

Nick D.

"So... I'm Nick (Lethe River is my solo-project's name) and I live in Athens, Greece. I'm 25 and have been playing music since 9. Music technology interest has emerged from the need to express myself without the limitations of a band (instruments and people :). I also have been writing in various styles and orchestral/soundtrack writing is a relatively recent challenge.

My work : http://soundcloud.com/lethe-river"

Caden L Welborn (Project Lead)

I'm a twenty one year old musician, composer, and orchestrator. I've been playing the piano since I was two and creating music since I was four. Over the years I've made music of all different genres of music, from piano, electronic, orchestral, to everything in between. I've also released four albums of various genres over the years with my most recent one being the electronic album Retr0grade.

I created this group to do something that has never been done before. The creation of a professional quality unofficial/fan made soundtrack for a game that is still being worked on. I believe we soundly accomplished this goal.

Cool! I love instrumental/game soundtrack music. Lots of games just have an interesting vibe to their music that you don't find anywhere else.

"What if I told you we're making a Star Citizen soundtrack to rival any upcoming official one?"

That's a mighty big call! I'll let you know if it's legit in a little while...

For clarification, here's a longer excerpt from the original thread on which that was posted:

"What if I told you we're making a Star Citizen soundtrack to rival any upcoming official one?

You'd probably say, "You must be out of your mind." Or, "Yeeeah, good luck with that buddy."

That sort of reaction would be common. After all, there wouldn't be many people, if any, who have the ability to match the production level of a master professional who has many years of experience making music for media and video games. There's no chance that composers such as Michael McCann, Jesper Kyd, or Jeremy Soule could be matched skill-wise by no-name artists right?

Well, I'll let the music speak for itself."

Loved the theme that was previously featured. I like the moody morose feel to it. It's not the same music, but it puts me in mind of a darker, somehow, more melancholy Tron.

Sampled a bit so far, first impression is it's not bad - definitely good enough that I am downloading it to listen to while driving around tomorrow. Bit torn on the Mass Effect influence in the theme song - while I like it and the original that inspired it, I think it'd work better if it wasn't a dominant part of the theme. Kept thinking I should be considering what version of Shepard I want to play rather than getting a Star Citizen vibe from it.

Also, your second link for Fernando's song leads to your opening/main theme again.

I believe we soundly accomplished this goal.

... I see what you did there. ;)

Thank you for all the hard work. I never saw the other thread, so this hit me out of the blue.

I love me some game soundtracks, official or otherwise.

Not a fan of the Squadron 42 theme as it doesn't really go anywhere at all, just seems like its constantly building to something.

Cool deal, I'm sure you guys put a lot of work into this and it shows.

I love a couple of Yuchen Tian's songs, the Glory to the Victor, and another one I can't remember off the top of my head.

I'm not the biggest fan of electronic music(not a hater, I'm just old) but Tian's music seems to pull it off in my opinion. It's like sardines in hot sauce, my eyes tell me "Oh hell no", but I like them.

All really cool songs, but I especially like Tian's.

A few of these songs are great. Some of them are a bit too slow for me. I wouldn't call any of this superior or equal to the music from the trailer, but it's a nice effort nonetheless.

X1Viper, the first song on the trailer is from the Battleship OST, its a fantastic song and can't remember the name of it but its on YouTube if you fancy going through the battleship ost. I would love something like a John Williams soundtrack but only managed to see the Squadron 42 soundtrack so will listen to the rest later.

I'm hearing hints of Audiomachine/E.S.Posthumus/TSFH there with perhaps a little bit of Jean Michel Jarre and Mike Oldfield. Excellent work, I'll be adding selections to my Aurora's audioplayer for those long missions in the vasty deep. :)
